Root Canals

Silk Dental Care offers teeth cleanings, checkups, and cavity fillings. However, sometimes more intensive procedures are needed. Root canal treatment may be necessary for a number of reasons. Under the hard enamel outside of your tooth is a squishy center, called the pulp. The pulp has connective tissue, blood vessels, and nerves. That’s why when the pulp is damaged, it can hurt – a lot!

If a patient has not visited the dentist in a long time, decay may have spread into the pulp, which is why it’s important to regularly see a dentist. Injury, a cracked tooth, or a chipped tooth can also damage the pulp. Lastly, if a patient has repeated dental procedures on the same tooth they may need a root canal, such as if a person has had several cavities on the same tooth. There are many reasons patients need root canal treatment. What is important is making sure that infected teeth are treated as soon as possible. Without treatment, damage to the pulp can lead to pain and/or an abscess. If treatment is not completed and the tooth becomes abscessed, it may not be possible to save. At that point, it might be necessary to completely extract the tooth.

In order to save the tooth, Silk Dental Care offers root canal procedures in-house. There’s no need to make an appointment at another facility, because we complete the treatment in our office.

During a root canal, Dr. Nguyen will remove the infected or inflamed pulp from the tooth, thoroughly clean the tooth, and seal it. It’s crucial to ensure there is no bacteria or underlying issues inside the tooth while cleaning it, since it will be sealed off from future dental work. By sealing the tooth, Dr. Nguyen is able to save the tooth. With this restorative treatment, any pain will be relieved, and you can continue to use the tooth normally afterward.

With 20 years of experience, Dr. Nguyen is the right choice for all your dentistry needs, from root canals to regular cleanings. While we offer root canals and other major dental work, our focus with existing patients is encouraging regular dental visits to avoid painful issues down the line. We want to stop cavities and infection early on.  Our office sees patients from throughout Orange County including the communities of Huntington Beach, Westminster, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, Seal Beach, and Long Beach.
